In 2012, Gina Mazzotta founded Gina Mazzotta Millinery when recognizing a vast fashion industry and a need for more stylish, contemporary hat options for today’s modern women. Gina knew she could be the one to lead the charge back to one of fashion’s most-beloved accessories: the hat.
With a background in visual and window design for brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Armani Exchange, and Saks Fifth Avenue, Gina began training with milliner Amy Hamilton. She fused this new training with the experiences she gained while living in New York City and embarked on a new dream. Gina began to create beautiful pieces that have been admired by the city of Pittsburgh for the last four years.
Gina’s work has been showcased in the city’s top publications – The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, WHIRL Magazine and Pittsburgh Magazine. Her pieces have dazzled guests at some of the city’s premiere events such as the Steelers Style charity runway show, The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy’s Annual Spring Luncheon and the FashionAFRICANA Fashion Show.
Gina has recently turned her attention from beautiful works of art that grace runways to more ready-to-wear pieces such as fedoras, cloches, berets and wide-brimmed boho-chic floppy hats. These pieces, while more casual in nature, are still handcrafted by Gina herself in her workshop in Downtown Pittsburgh where she dares to explore innovative ways to recreate traditional forms.
Dubbed the “Mad Hatter of Pittsburgh,” Gina and her works of art have changed the landscape of fashion for the women of Pittsburgh, and she’s now set her sights on making her pieces accessible to women across the country. Fashion isn’t just for those who live on Rodeo Drive or Park Avenue; it’s for every woman, everywhere.
